Service terminal Post 24|7

Starting point
Development of an automated system extending existing logistics, mail and banking services into an "automatic branch".

Challenge
Integration into existing infrastructure while reducing operational costs.

Approach
Development of a robust, modular system with clear user guidance.

Result
Extended service access with reduced operational and infrastructure costs.

The "Post 24|7" service terminal is designed to bring together the services of Deutsche Post, DHL and Postbank under one roof. It consists of two assemblies:

First: the self-service unit, whose glass front takes up the appearance of the Post Tower in Bonn. Behind each glass segment an independent function can be installed, operated through the interface on the glass panel: a letter box, a parcel station and a self-service banking terminal.

Second: the "Yellow Portal" as site signage, built from the modular system developed for the portals of the Postbank finance centres.

The service terminal exemplifies a comprehensive 3D corporate design programme that Lengyel Design developed for DHL, Deutsche Post and Postbank: the sculpturally rendered Posthorn, the signage of all branches in Germany as well as the group's offices and production sites worldwide, the international corporate design manuals for buildings and furnishings, self-service terminals and technical equipment, the wayfinding system for the Post Tower in Bonn, and the patented modular system of the yellow branch portal. The service station brings this system together – its portal derives from the same patented profile system as the branch identification – and unites the services of all three brands under one roof.

Deutsche Post, DHL and Postbank:
3D Corporate Design

The service terminal is part of a programme Lengyel Design developed for Deutsche Post, DHL and the Postbank: the post horn developed as a three-dimensional form, the signage of the branches in Germany and of the group's locations worldwide, the international corporate design manuals for buildings and furnishing, self-service machines and technical equipment, and the wayfinding system of the Post Tower in Bonn. At the core of the programme is a patented modular system: the columns of the Yellow Portal are assembled from segments produced with a single tool. More than twenty build variants allow adaptation to different structural entrance situations.

From post horn to component. The curve of the post horn is translated into an eighth-circle profile. This element forms the basic component of the patented modular system of the Yellow Portal.
